Vacaville’s history began in 1841 when Manuel Vaca and Felipe Pena received an 84,000 acre land grant from the King of Spain. The Penas and the Vacas built the Pena Adobe which still stands as a historical monument west of the city. Vacaville celebrated its first recorded Fiesta Days in 1848, to celebrate and honor the marriage of a granddaughter of both the Penas and Vacas. The celebration lasted a week and Fiesta days is still celebrated annually, with young and old looking forward to the week of festivities.

Vacaville, California is located in northern Solano County, midway between San Francisco and Sacramento. In 1851 Manuel Vaca sold one square mile of land to William McDaniel which was used to create a township that in 1892 became incorporated as the city of Vacaville and for the next 50 years the population remained around 1500 people. Pioneer settlers, farmers, ranchers, passing fortune hunters and prospectors helped to define the city in those days. Vacaville remains a small town at heart, whose residents pride themselves on the high level of community involvement. Affordable housing, quality schools, a wide array of youth activities, and numerous community events contribute to making Vacaville a family-oriented city.
